She/her
I am thrilled by the act of fumbling with a piece of cloth on a dress form, trying to form something from my head to the visible.
The act of pining and unpinning, shaping and reshaping on a tailor's dummy, feeling like I missed my way when I realise I am not
making any headway trying to bring the images I have formed in my mind into reality. The courage to pull my piece of cloth down and start afresh creeps in.
I redo my steps remembering that nothing ever works the first time and finally, my heart glows from that little achievement.
I then unpin my drapes and transfer them over to a paper pattern and then my excitement begins as I find pattern drafting very engaging.
Then I try to communicate with my pattern by asking questions such as what goes there? Is that balance line correct? Are all the markings
for the notches in the correct positions?
