My ‘Transparent Structures’ activewear project and my interiors project ‘Feminine Oscuro’ each pay precise attention to detail in both the drawing element and my constructed sampling. I love working at a variety of scales on tasks that require commitment and patience, for example, repeating lots of intricate components to create an intense effect.
I always aim to be sustainable in any creative projects that I’m working on by keeping fabric offcuts and repurposing objects that I already own. Throughout my projects I have always found that I have been drawn to metal and alternative materials, incorporating them in whatever way I can with my work which has made me confident in using a variety of challenging materials.
The most important thing I have learned on this course is the importance and value of the design process. My final concept garment from first year is one I am so proud of and spent a lot of time on, as well as my wallpaper and weaves from ‘Feminine Oscuro’
I recently gained employment at Dumfries House Textile Training Centre as a Textile Technician helping with a luxury garment production line.
