Stemming from a background in gallery work and a Fine Arts degree, I have a particular interest in bending the rules and thinking conceptually about what I create. This exploration comes through in most of my work: recently, through morse code inspired textiles containing hidden messages. It is all about giving clothes, objects or rooms a ‘voice’, or an imagined one at least.

With fashion & textiles this also comes through in themes such as gender, form, texture, surface and colour. Where is the room for spontaneity and play? Why should a particular yarn be used with that fabric? Why should garments be constructed in a particular way? I try to keep these kinds of questions in mind and strive to create things that are true to my style and way of expressing myself. To quote artist Dorothea Tanning; “Keep an eye on your inner world and keep away from ads, idiots and movie stars”...
