I am born story teller. My love for storytelling has been a driving force in my work and believe that every piece of clothing should have a narrative behind it. Whether it is inspired by a cultural tradition, a personal experience, or a social issue, I am fascinated by the way that fashion can be used to create connections between people and communities. I believe that by giving a garment a story behind it, it brings purpose to the creation of it and an opportunity to encourage discussion. This year, I have been working on translating the cycle of addiction through a 3 stage process; Obsession, Destruction and Rebirth using the Greek God of the Underworld, Pluto, as my research focal.

Despite admiring all possibilities of the garment making process, I truly respect the transformational process of taking a flat, 2D pattern and bringing it to life as a fully-formed, 3D garment. To me, the process of taking a flat piece of paper and turning it into a wearable garment is nothing short of magic and one that is often overlooked. The creative possibilities that start as a 2D sketch are endless and is something I aim to explore to its fullest. I believe that by fully understanding pattern drafting, it will aid my in my exploration into sustainable fashion.
