Hand stitching and embellishment! These seem to be my strong points in designing and making a garment. I always find a way to incorporate one or the other. Through the full process I love being able to think of an idea, draw it in 2D and then with pattern drafting and making it into a 3D garment. It’s quite therapeutic. I somehow manage to give myself multiple problems along the way which is always exciting and intriguing to find a way to solve them. With most of my garments I like to try make them slightly different in various ways. These can be by fabric choices, embroidery, and embellishments. Most of my designs incorporate butterflies as these have a special meaning to me. They symbolise scoliosis, which I have. This is the reason I became interested fashion. I used fashion to cover up my scoliosis to begin with but as I got older I have used it as something to actually embrace it. I would love to continue my journey in fashion to develop my skills and hope to find other ways to help other people embrace their selves.
