The influence of textiles in my life can be seen in all aspects that make me who I am. From my personality, to the way I dress and the things I value. I believe this gives me a unique work ethic, bringing my own beliefs and character to each project. I enjoy the initial stages of a project when I am finalising what the project means to me and delving further into my research before undertaking any sampling. My project ‘Synaesthesia’ focused on the reactions different texture illicit, and how this applies to garments. For this collection I utilised garments bought second hand, which I repurposed to create samples, reducing waste. Crocheting with alternative materials to wool is something I explored during this project, using fabric and plastic instead. As a designer, I am aware of the impact the fashion industry has on the environment and believe it is our responsibility to reduce this. I am eager to continue learning about textiles and broaden my experience and knowledge.
