Sarah Hawthorne  The main inspirations for my work come from books, movies, and songs. My main collection named ‘One Dark Queen’ draws inspiration from the ‘Three Dark Crowns’ book series, by Kendare Blake. The character of Queen Katherine is my muse, bringing forth a darker, gothic influence for the collection. She is a complex character, sweet and innocent until she becomes possessed by the spirits of the dead, former queens who warp her mind. Although the darkness of her possession is prominent, her sweetness still comes through at some points. I particularly love drawing inspiration from fictional characters because, like real humans, many are very complex, allowing for more interpretations to be made and more fun to be had with picturing them. I find this beneficial to me as my strengths lie mainly in illustration, both digitally and physically, as well as idea generation for my designs and development of my designs.
