Future: BA (Hons) Fashion Design at Heriot Watt, September 2022

Chrystal Dube  My favourite project throughout the year was commercial design. I felt that my work for this project was quite personal to myself as a person of ethnic minority due to my chosen topic that I based on my suggested potential collection for the brand which was racial equity. I feel that the way I approached the project whilst making a statement was quite successful and is something I would like to revisit in the future and perhaps make some of my designs. The ocean comber inspired project is one that I also enjoyed as it was an eye-opener for me and made me acknowledge that fashion can be inspired by basically anything. This project led to experimenting with bubble inspired sculptures, patchwork using different materials such a sheer and a technical fabric; raincoat fabric (to represent a form of environmental sustainability) and my designs included a lot of asymmetry from style details to silhouette shapes. I feel like I still have a lot to learn in the fashion industry and therefore plan to go to University so I can study at degree level after completion of my HND.
